Organic Chana, which is also popularly known as Kala chana, Karuppu Kondakadalai, Chholar Dal, Desi Chana, and Kadale Kaalu in various regions across India. The size of brown whole chana is relatively small compared to other varieties of chickpeas. They are usually about the size of a pea or slightly larger. As the name suggests, brown whole chana has a brownish color. The shade of brown can vary, and some chickpeas may have darker or lighter hues.
With its firm and granny texture, chana does not have a strong or distinctive smell however, the aroma becomes more pronounced when they are cooked.
Organic Chana is majorly produced in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Karnataka. The timing of kala chana cultivation and harvesting varies across different regions of India.
